Questions for Your Teen to Ask the Guidance Counselor

Here are some questions that you may want your child to ask the guidance counselor.

  • What classes should I take if I want to go to college?
  • What classes are required for me to graduate high school?
  • What elective courses do you recommend for college-bound students?
  • What should I know about Advanced Placement classes, Post-Secondary Enrollment Options, and the Ohio College Tech Prep Program?
  • Can students who are considering college receive special help or tutoring?
  • What will help my preparation for college outside of school?
  • How much homework is expected of students preparing for college? (This answer will help your teen determine the time remaining for interests outside of school.)
  • What grades and ACT/SAT scores should I aim for in order to get into college?
  • How much English and mathematics do colleges expect I should know?
  • What help can I get if I need assistances to pass one or more of the Ohio Graduation Tests.
